Several Christian Socialists believed Jesus would support their cause. However, one of the most prominent and influential figures who explicitly argued that Jesus of Nazareth would support the Socialists was
Frederick Denison Maurice.
While others like Charles Kingsley also held similar views, Maurice is often considered the intellectual and theological father of Christian Socialism in England. He believed that the Kingdom of God was a society based on cooperation, mutual responsibility, and love - principles he saw as fundamentally aligned with socialist ideals. He argued that Jesus' teachings on wealth, poverty, and the common good were inherently socialist.
