The Gospels describe many instances of Jesus healing people. It's impossible to definitively pick out only *three* as being somehow more significant than others, but here are three well-known and distinct examples, along with how the healings were performed:
1. The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34, Luke 8:43-48): This woman had been suffering from bleeding for twelve years. She believed that if she could just touch the hem of Jesus's cloak, she would be healed. She approached him in a crowd and touched his cloak. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. Jesus felt power leave him and asked who touched him. Initially, she was afraid to admit it, but she confessed. Jesus told her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace." Healing method: Touch of faith.
2. The Blind Man of Bethsaida (Mark 8:22-26): This healing is unique because it happens in stages. People brought a blind man to Jesus and begged him to touch him. Jesus took the man away from the village, spat on his eyes, laid his hands on him, and asked if he could see anything. The man said he saw people, but they looked like trees walking around. Jesus then laid his hands on the man's eyes again, and his sight was restored completely. Healing method: Spittle, laying on of hands (twice).
3. The Leper (Matthew 8:1-4, Mark 1:40-45, Luke 5:12-16): A man with leprosy came to Jesus, knelt before him, and begged, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man, saying, "I am willing. Be clean!" Immediately the leprosy was cleansed from him. Jesus then instructed him to go show himself to the priest and offer the sacrifice Moses commanded as a testimony to them. Healing method: Touch and spoken word.
These are just a few examples. Jesus healed many others through various means, including simple spoken commands, long-distance healing, and exorcism. The emphasis is often on the person's faith as a factor in receiving healing.
